Miscellania Ahoy
Dec. 18th, 2008 10:20 pmWith CAS shots because I am too tired to be creative!
Well, as mentioned in the previous entry, Drew from Atuta or whatever it was called, was a little heavy handed with the polys. And when I say little, I mean Jesus H Christ man, put down the mouse and get the fuck away from Milkshape. You are not fit to mesh.
Which, y'know is a bit rich from me, but then I never made a dress with TWENTY FUCKING THOUSAND POLYS
Yes, 20 000. A number that sadly never appears on my Scratchie ticket :(
Naturally, many people found this inacceptable. 20k for a pretty run of the mill dress? Piss off, I care far too much for my rams to inflict that apon them. However this was sad, as some people, have done some very pretty things with said mesh. So I decided to see what I could do with it.
I did a lot with it. It's now around the uh, 5k mark. That's a whopping great FIFTEEN THOUSAND polys gone, and all I did was lop off that necklace ( that's what acessories are for dammit!) and changed the shoes.

As you can see, it's a pretty piss poor choice in footwear, especially for that kind of dress, but it's A) the first half decent pair I saw on a Maxis mesh, and B) not 7000 polys. You are however lucky I didn't slap a pair of combat boots on it. Nothing cannot be improved by combat boots.
Uh. If somebody would care to suggest a more suitible pair of shoes for this mesh - preferably on a Maxis mesh, or made by somebody who isn't adverse to shoe-thievery with credit (I think Gothplague had some good ones in her section for free use, if somebody had a copy of those files? :) ) I would be more then happy to slap them on instead. This was more a proof of concept edit.
And because <lj user="shedrifts"> guessed right on how many polys I killed, I said I'd recolour a mesh for her.

It's still very much a work in progress (hence the dodgy colour, which, though unattractive, is the base for alll my recolouring action sets) but so far, want or DNW? I don't know what to do with the scalf. Peggys textures, plain, or should I attempt to bastardise some Maxis fabric textures to make it more matchy? I'm leaning towards plain myself.
